Sorghum and Blackstrap Molasses
Description: Sweet Sorghum is syrup made from the juice of Sorghum Cane. In years past it was an important source of sweetener. It came into prominence during the 1850's in the United States. By 1888 total US production was 20,000,000 gallons. An 1896 encyclopedia listed the main states that produced sorghum as Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, and Missouri. It was something that many farms grew to some extent.
We have been purchasing our sorghum from a farm in Mississippi since 1982. We have received many letters from satisfied customers saying that our sorghum is as good as they have had. We appreciate twenty five years worth of satisfied customers.

Description: Blackstrap Molasses is jut one type of molasses, the dark liquid by-product of the process of refining sugar cane into table sugar. It is made from the third boiling of the sugar syrup and is therefore the concentrated by-product left over after the sugar's sucrose has been chrystalized.
Blackstrap molasses is a sweetener that is actually good for you. Unlike refined white sugar and corn syrup, which are stripped of virtually all nutrients except simple carbohydrates, blackstrap molasses is a healthful sweetener that contains significant amounts of a variety of minerals that promote your health.
